Lion I

Inspired by my first trip to South Africa to stop thinking so much about every brush stroke, this beast gradually appeared and signalled a new way of painting for me.  Now I try to have a clear idea, some vague method of how to go about it, then forget it all and get on with it.  I painted this as a gift to my first husband, Christopher, who died in 2005.  His wild South African spirit, I hope, is somewhere in this paint.
